"I am presently preparing to take Mr.Kurt Werling to court for the disgrace of a House he built me. If you hire this man expect nothing but a house full of defects and structural mistakes.And a whole lot of pain and suffering. He should have his license for building removed. I have a house full of water damage which is tilting from a bad built foundation, not enough pile ins...It is a three year old house that looks like a 30 year old house. Full of cracks and mold from water damage from a poor constructed roof. Do not hire this man. I am not surprised to hear that other Lakeview houses that he built are in need of an expert to come in and evaluate Mr.Kurt Werling's poor workmenship."

"I am a subcontractor that has been hired by several former clients of Werling Builders, mainly to repair/rebuild the carpentry/trim problems that Werling has introduced into their homes. As I write this, I have torn out and rebuilt a 3-story stairwell in a house in Lakeview that they installed with their 'carpenters', a (get this) $15,000 job that is being mediated in a lawsuit brought by the owners. This is the 3rd client that has contacted me to repair/rebuild a significant component of their house because of Werling's incompetence. And be aware: Do not expect to have Werling return your calls, do not expect to be reimbursed for any problems they introduce, and do not, even in a lawsuit, expect that you or your subcontractor will be repaid for your labor. Right now, even though we passed the legal mediator's inspection on the stair rebuild, Werling is refusing to pay for damages. Because we have no choice, we have notified the owner that we will be placing a lien on his property tomorrow, all due to Kurt Werling, thank you."

"I have a roof that leaks, my house has flooded three times already and I have only lived in it for a year and half. I have a weak second floor which an engineer has had to come out again to look at, my house continues to tilt and is very unlevel. Kurt Werling never followed the blue print and never added the two structural colunms outside my back of my house, which was to give proper support to my house . I now have had to have a microbiologist in, to test my air for mold.He still hasn't fixed it and he has known about it for four months. I just discovered that all my windows were never sealed too. HE NEVER PUT 2X6 HURRICANE STRAPS IN THE ATTIC WHICH IS THE NEW CODE. Mr. Kurt Werling needs more classes and schooling. My house is leaking from the rain and I have to have a mold remediation company in to treat my whole bottom floor. Do not hire Mr. Kurt Werling. ."

"I made the mistake of hiring Kurt and now I have to pull up all my floors because in December my bottom floor flooded from poor workmenship. Water entered my house from the entrance through my bottom floor. I just had Black mold removed and he still is not sending out a mold specialist ??? Kurt ignores his phone. We have only lived in our house for a year. My house leaks like a tent and it is not even hurricane season yet. Let me just say, He builds a hell of a house. He should just build sand castles. Do not hire. Nothing but problems . Defects in the structure too, which I had to hire a engineer for."

"VERY similar expreiences with other negative comments on this web site. Built a new home for us and it now has major problems. Forensic engineer now needed to try and sort out how to repair. Kurt Werling does not return calls/emails when there is a problem. He thinks he knows everything and does no wrong. As for the positive reponses on this site; do yourself a favor, if considering him to build something for you ask him for a FULL list of houses he has built in the last 5 years with contact information. You be the judge in the end.

"I hired Kurt Werling to build our new home. At first he was doing a good job then about half way into the job things went from good to very bad then ugly. We always had trouble getting in touch with him by e-mail and by cell phone,especially when there were mistakes in the house. He just avoids and ignores his paying customers. He does not follow the blue print created for the house. He does not pay attention to detail and leaves a mess for the customer to clean up. When there is a mistake in the house, he blames one of the workers, when he is in fact, the contractor. Promises beauty and falls short with sloppy and unfinished details. I still have an incomplete house, which was started 01/13/08. Just left us high and dry with a house that is unlevel and has structural defects which my engineer had to investigate. I would never hire or recommend to any one."

"Contractor has abandoned the project. He cannot be contacted by phone or email. Will not repair faulty structure or interior finishes. Would NEVER recommend his services to anyone."

"Contractor starts work quickly and then stops. He is VERY hard to contact on the phone and tends to rotate working on his projects in 4 to 6 week intervals. Constuction is average to slightly below average. Finish work is HORRIBLE. He has no concept of finishing and detail. Promises perfection but has no vision of how to complete. Look for his signs and ask the people who deal with him. Would not reccomend this builder to ANYONE."
